2021 Street Performer Series Application

Downtown Holland is hopeful that the 2021 Street Performer Series can be held this summer if the restrictions from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) are lifted allowing for outdoor events without capacity limits. So while we do not have a start date for the Series to begin, we want to be prepared if restrictions are lifted and we are able to host the event yet this summer on Thursday evenings from 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm.

If you are interested in being considered as a performer for the Street Performer Series, please submit the application below. You must be accepted into the Series in order to perform on Thursday nights during the summer. If selected, you will receive a notification from us that you have been accepted, followed by your assigned performance dates and locations once we know if/when Series can be held. You will receive a small performance stipend at the end of the summer, but you are also allowed to busk for tips during your performance. Please submit one Street Performer Series application per group. The stipend for performing will be $20 per two-hour slot per group.

All performers accepted into the Series are required to obtain a Street Performer Permit from the Downtown Holland office and agree to abide by the rules and regulations of the City of Holland's Street Performer ordinance. Individual performer permits are $15 each and group permits are $25. You can obtain a permit application online at www.downtownholland.com or at the Downtown Holland office (150 West 8th Street). Permits are non-refundable, so we highly recommend waiting to make sure you have been accepted and that the Series will indeed take place before purchasing your permit. If your performance involves extraordinary activities such as aerial acrobatics, cycling or stilt-walking, please contact us at 616.796.0472 prior to completing this application, as advanced approval for these activities are required.

Before you complete the application, please note the following changes to this year's Street Performer Series:

• Performers must be at least 18 years old. This includes all members of your group.
• Groups are limited to no more than four performers to allow for adequate social distancing in keeping with Street Performer permitting Covid-19 regulations.
• Other Covid-19 restrictions may be enacted closer to the starting date, which you must agree to abide with in order to participate in the event.

Street Performer Series applications and audition materials are due by Friday, May 28. This is the only time applications will be accepted, even if the Series does not begin until later this summer. To be considered for the Street Performer Series, you must supply audition materials that can be viewed online. DVDs and CDs will not be accepted this year.

An approved amplification permit is required if you will be using amplification. You may obtain this when you get your Street Performer Permit. Only battery-operated amplifiers are allowed. Sound systems with speakers require an amplification permit.

CONSENT AND RELEASE

To apply for the Thursday's Street Performers, you must agree with your electronic signature to the Consent and Release below on your own behalf and on the behalf of all members of your performance group if applicable.

I give permission to the City of Holland and the Downtown Principal Shopping District (collectively referred to as the “Organizations”) to use (including, but not limited to, taking photographs and making audio recordings or videos), without charge and without reservation, all or a portion of my story including my likeness and my voice in promoting these Organizations. I acknowledge that editorial changes may be made as deemed suitable by the Organizations. Whether or not changes are made, I waive any rights of action I may have and release the Organizations from any and all claims I may have arising from the use, publication, and changes in the content, including any rights to sue for defamation or violation of rights of privacy or rights of publicity. In addition, I hereby authorize the City to secure criminal conviction history from the appropriate law enforcement agency, should the City determine it is necessary to do so.
